Biography
Heather Pickerell is an associate in the firm’s litigation department. Her practice covers a wide range of commercial, entertainment, and intellectual property matters.
Before joining the firm, Ms. Pickerell served as a Deputy Federal Public Defender, representing clients in federal and state capital habeas proceedings, noncapital habeas proceedings, direct appeals, and resentencing proceedings. Prior to working at the Federal Public Defender, she clerked for Judge Karen Nelson Moore on the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Sixth Circuit and Judge Jia Cobb of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
Ms. Pickerell graduated from Harvard Law School, where she received the Dean’s Scholar award for attaining the top grade in Copyright. She took a seminar focused on music copyright; she also represented clients in copyright litigation matters as a student practitioner in the Cyberlaw Clinic.
