Andrés E. Monserrate-Mills is an associate in the firm's entertainment and litigation departments. Mr. Monserrate's practice focuses on entertainment, media and intellectual property transactions and litigation.

A proud native of San Juan, Puerto Rico, Mr. Monserrate started his career in state and federal litigation under the guidance of the Honorable José A. Andréu-García, former Chief Justice of the Supreme Court of Puerto Rico. Mr. Monserrate also represented the Federal Deposit Insurance Corporation (FDIC) in federal commercial litigation against directors and officers of failed banks for reckless lending practices and breach of fiduciary duties, and defended the FDIC as receiver in separate federal claims. In other engagements, he advised start-up companies and investors expanding to Puerto Rico in matters of corporate organization, taxation, due diligence, and regulations compliance.

After these experiences, Mr. Monserrate was federal law clerk to the Honorable Jay A. García-Gregory and Honorable Pedro A. Delgado-Hernández of the United States District Court for the District of Puerto Rico.

Mr. Monserrate obtained his Bachelor of Arts from Loyola University New Orleans, where he majored in Music Industry Studies and Jazz Percussion. In 2013, he received his Juris Doctor from the University of Puerto Rico School of Law, where he served as Senior Editor of the University of Puerto Rico Law Review and Editor to the University of Puerto Rico Business Law Journal. He also did pro bono work preparing music industry agreements for the Conservatory of Music of Puerto Rico, and organized and moderated a music law panel with invited entertainment attorneys.

Mr. Monserrate is an exceptional drummer, having performed in the New Orleans Jazz and Heritage Festival and the Puerto Rico Heineken Jazz Festival.
