Brent Canter is an associate in the firm’s entertainment department where his practice covers a wide range of transactional entertainment, media and intellectual property matters with an emphasis on the music industry.

Mr. Canter earned his law degree from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law, where he was an editor of the Journal of Law & Technology. While in law school, he served as a judicial extern for the Honorable Christina A. Snyder, United States Central District, Los Angeles and interned in the Legal Affairs Department at Warner Bros. Entertainment. Prior to law school he worked in creative services at one of the world’s leading music production libraries where he helped companies such as Viacom, HBO, NBC and Dentsu select and license music for TV, film, advertising and online productions. Mr. Canter received his undergraduate degrees from UCLA where he graduated magna cum laude with a B.A. in Political Science from the College of Letters and Science and a B.A. in Ethnomusicology from the Herb Alpert School of Music.

Mr. Canter is an ASCAP award-winning composer, guitarist and recording artist and has performed in venues across the country including the Kennedy Center, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art and New York’s legendary Smalls Jazz Club.
